Inspired by nature
Seeing animals and birds, and connecting with Nature always makes my day! It fills me up, recharges me and never fails to bring inspiration and insights for days to come. One morning, at the beach I suddenly heard a crow. Nothing unusual about that, as in my country there are lots of crows. I did look up, though, and saw two more, perched high up on two flagpoles.
I suddenly felt inspired to go to a nearby forest. In this same forest I was about to visit, I earlier had an extraordinary experience which I will write about later in a different blog post.
Today, though, as I got there, it didn’t seem so welcoming… I had an uncanny feeling that I was being watched, the trees almost seemed to whisper among themselves and it just all seemed a bit gloomy and dark. There was a kind of ‘jitter’ in the air. I quickly took a few photos whereafter I rushed back to my car and drove away.
My intuition told me to drive to another beach close by. I got out and filled my lungs with fresh sea air, felt the wind on my face, heard a few birds call each other on this rather chilly morning. I took some pictures of pine trees and cones, beautiful birch trees and wild grass. As I was again back in my car and on the road going back towards home, I suddenly saw a deer jump out about 100 meters in front of me. I stopped, and it stopped! There it was, in the middle of the road. The deer took its time to look around, she spotted me in my car, kept looking, and it was as if our eyes met for many seconds, before she skipped, jumped and ran into the forest on the other side of the road.
I felt very lucky that that deer crossed my way.
Driving along the soft hilly landscape of fields, dotted with the occasional farm and even an old manor, I suddenly saw a group of around 8 or 9 white swans flying over the fields and nearing the stables of the manor. I pulled over, and got out to enjoy the sight of these big majestic birds with their long graceful long necks, and big wings moving up and down, helping them glide through the air.
I watched as the birds made a final big right-turn before they disappeared high up behind some nearby trees.
It was a magical sight. I imagined hearing the soft swooshy sound of their wings and the pattering of their beaks.
It was a morning of beautiful natural life, and wonderful and inspiring sights.
After animal encounters like this, I like to look up the symbolic spirit meaning of specific animals that have come into ‘my field’. The interpretations always seem to provide amazing insight into issues, thoughts or ideas that are on my mind or in my heart, at the time.
I will leave you with this quote from a fellow nature lover, the inspirational John Muir, an American environmental philosopher, writer and early advocate of wilderness preservation!
“In every walk with Nature, one receives far more than he seeks” – John Muir (1838-1914)
Till next time – I urge you to go out and experience Nature, become inspired!
